The Artwork

Zinc.

The metallic surface occupies the entire composition with its unmistakable crystallized texture. The cold gray of the zinc is interrupted by subtle vertical drips of orange rust. On the right, a heavy oxidized hinge imposes itself with its solid mass.

The pictorial technique accomplishes a prodigy of visual mimesis. The oil on canvas perfectly imitates the opaque reflections, the chemical stains, and the repelling hardness of the industrial sheet metal. The artist investigates with absolute patience the reactions of metal exposed to time.

The artwork celebrates the austere aesthetics of industrial abandonment. Rust becomes a precious decorative element. It is a painting of strong visual impact, capable of transforming decay into pure elegance.

The artist's voice

"Metal has its own hidden fragility. The drips of rust are the slow tears of a matter undergoing transformation."
