The Artwork

Lock.

The gray wood occupies the entire composition with its deep veins. The painted surface reproduces the vertical flow of the fibers and the crumbling of the old paint. On the right, a complex metal mechanism imposes itself with its rigid architecture.

The hyperrealism of the oil painting deceives visual perception. The brushstrokes capture the light that glides over the reliefs of the bolt and the cracks in the wood. One feels the tenacious resistance of the materials exposed to the elements. The canvas becomes a monument to everyday solidity.

The work celebrates the involuntary geometry of lived-in objects. The dull gray acquires an unexpected luminosity. It is a rigorous vision, capable of transmitting a profound sense of security.

The artist's voice

"Security has its own silent architecture. A rusted bolt is the faithful witness of passing time."
